“I belong neither here nor there—caught between my Korean American worlds. I build and build, layering fragments of myself, minced and blended, stirring a home within. It’s like how Mom taught me to cook: throw little bits together and let them simmer.
I am bold and small, durable and fragile, a collection of bittersweet memories nestled together. The clay I shape and the colors I mix enrich who I could be, forever warmed by a mother’s embrace.
I collect crumbs to find myself and have yet to see who that is. I don’t think I ever will, and that’s okay.”
